The first time she beached in Alex harbour caused damage to the keel and outer skin. As a result she was saved from the disaster in Crete.due to the delays in making her seaworthy.

 


Taken in Dry dock in Alex harbour,

Glenroy  used the wrong channel . She followed a destroyer out  and as she drew far more water, grounded  on rocks as a result.

John and his mate , spent quite some time in the space  between  the outer hull and the inner hull laying concrete to fill in the damage,
